In his retirement, Sherman Emil "Sam" Waldrip, son of John Franklin and brother of Floyd, sat down to type a memoir for his children. In his words, they "did not know what I did in my profession. They knew what my title was and where I had an office but they had no idea what I was paid to do."

It is the family document Jason had been told about and which no library holds, because it was never published. This curated edition presents the complete memoir arranged in 37 illustrated stories, accompanied by reconstructed illustrations, and linked directly to high-resolution facsimiles of the original typescript leaves.
